Last week, Town Council President Gary Cote attempted to pass a Tax Abatement on the Anthony Mill project.
The meeting was later ruled null and void by the district attorney, and another is being held on April 4 with the intention of having the Anthony Fire District follow the same abatement process that the Town of Coventry did for the mill property.

The town was upholding a court order to abate the assessment, however the fire district is not under the court order, and is in no position to give away tax dollars nor can it afford to give out tax credits.
The abatement for the property valuation would be nearly a million dollars for the next two years and upwards of 15-20 million over the next eight years.
