So there I was sitting in my car, in my driveway, minding my own business, using my iPad when all of a sudden I hear voices and I turn to investigate. It was a father and son team. Neighbors of mine, who I had never met. The boy was dressed in his Boy Scout uniform. Fund raising time. Next thing I know I am holding the pamphlet of items they were offering for sale.........gourmet popcorn. Best I can recall, there was nothing for less than $10. I went for the 6 ounce can of bacon flavored popcorn. Price....$20. That works out to a little less than $60 per pound. What the heck is that teaching kids? So did I really help a good cause? Looking back on it I think not. So here is what I say to the Boy Scouts. How about next year you teach the boys that money should be earned, and not stolen, because I do not feel good about my contribution. I more feel like I was robbed. Why not send the boys out through the neighborhood with dad's lawn mower offering to mow lawns for $5 or $10. I'd feel better and I think so wouldn't they.
