📰 News we're reading

• Coventry Cops Seeking Silver Pickup Truck (patch.com) — Coventry police are asking residents to help identify the driver of a distinctive silver pickup truck that allegedly struck another vehicle on the roadside and then fled. The incident happened Wednesday, and investigators shared video of the truck, urging anyone with information to contact Coventry police by email or phone.

• Coventry Council Delays Kennel Ordinance to September 22 (upriseri.com) — Coventry's Town Council has pushed a controversial kennel zoning overhaul to September 22, giving residents another chance to weigh in on dog limits, kennel sizes, and buffer distances from homes. Council members remain split over whether small kennels should be regulated at all, how far larger operations must sit from neighbors, and how to balance animal welfare with fears of overregulation and complaint-driven enforcement.

• Shortchanged RIPTA Flexes On Demand (ecori.org) — Coventry riders are included in RIPTA's $2 Flex On Demand microtransit service, which now covers a West Warwick/Coventry zone alongside several other Rhode Island communities. The app-based vans offer ADA-compliant, curb-to-curb rides without surge pricing, giving car-free residents, seniors, and commuters a cheaper alternative to Uber or Lyft while helping reduce traffic and emissions statewide.
