Preventure, a global provider of corporate wellness and fitness programs, is bringing it home to support a local cause near and dear to one of their own. On Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day) you can find the Preventure Team running, walking, volunteering and sponsoring the 12th Annual Matthew Siravo Memorial 5K/Walk for Epilepsy. The team is chaired by Preventure Engagement Manager, Caitlin Floskis, who’s been a part of The Matty Fund since its inception.
The Matty Fund was started in 2003 after the passing of Matty Siravo, by a group of Matty’s family and friends. Caitlin went to junior high school with Matty’s siblings and immediately stepped up to assist in their efforts. The first event to support the cause was a 5k that raised $5,000. That signature event has grown and celebrates its 12th anniversary this year, having raised a total of $150,000 over that time! Money raised through all the Funds’ events go towards local research, CURE (Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy), scholarships for high school seniors and general support for local families living with Epilepsy. In light of the this year’s run being held on Memorial Day, funds raised at the event will support the VA (Veterans Affairs) Epilepsy Center of Excellence.
Floskis has spearheaded Preventure’s involvement through the company’s Fit For Life program, which supports the wellness of its employees. This includes “Wellness in Action,” where employees have the opportunity to get involved with community events like the Matty Fund 5k.

Floskis says this about her involvement with the Matty and her passion to get Preventure participating: “I have been involved with The Matty Fund for over 10 years now, and it is a cause I am very passionate about. The Matty 5k is a community event that brings people together and creates a family atmosphere similar to our culture at Preventure. I am grateful that I can always count on the support of my co-workers, especially for a good cause.”
