Road Resurfacing Bid Advertisement

Sealed Bids for Road Resurfacing Program will be received at the Office of the Town Clerk, , 1670 Flat River Road, until 10:00 a.m. on August 31, 2011 at which time said Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

The work includes reclaiming and resurfacing of named streets, leveling as directed, adjustment of catch basins, manholes, gas and water valve covers, and necessary traffic control, All work must be completed within 60 days of notice to proceed for each section of work. It is anticipated that roads included in this project will be paved in 2011.

Contract Documents may be examined and obtained at the following location: , 1670 Flat River Road, Coventry, Rhode Island. No deposit will be required, but each contractor will be limited to one set of contract documents. On sets to be mailed, a non-refundable $10 postage and handling charge (by separate check) will be required.

There will be a pre-bids meeting on Friday August 26, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in Town Council Chambers at .

Bid Security in the form of bid bond, certified check, Treasurer's Check or Cashier's Check in the amount of five percent of the bid amount must accompany each Bid.

No bidder may withdraw his Bid within 90 days after the actual date of the opening thereof. The successful bidder must furnish 100 percent Performance Bond and 100 percent Payment Bond within 10 days of Notice of Award. The Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities or minor defects, or to reject any and all bids.

Attention of the bidders is particularly called to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and minimum wage rates to be paid under the Contract in conformity with the provisions of Chapter 13 of Title 37. General Laws, Rhode Island, 1956, as amended. Such a schedule of wages has been established on a minimum hourly basis and is on file in the Office of the State Department of Labor. The Contractor will submit copies of certified payrolls to the Owner on a weekly basis.

Bidders must submit evidence of certification by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, Materials Section, that their plant is capable of producing Type I-1 material meeting all requirements of the specifications.
