Ted Jendzejec Announces Candidacy for Coventry Town Council

Before a well attended fundraiser at Andiamo's in Coventry, Ted Jendzejec, a life long resident of Coventry, announced that he is seeking his third term for the District 5 Town Council seat.

"There is a lot of unfinished business to be completed before Coventry can become fiscally sound again," he said. "We have woefuly underfunded pension systems that have been lacking since the early 70s. Past councils relied heavily on the positive influence of the financial markets to fund a pension system while minimally infuusing it with taxpayer money. This no longer can be the case as we see the financial markets around the world change on a nearly daily basis. Tough decisions are going to have to be made. Decisions made by a taxpayer who understands what its like to live paycheck to paycheck hoping to give their family their needs and the few amenities of living an enjoyable life."

"Being a taxpayer myself and supporting two wonderful children, I know what it means to sacrifice," Jendzejec continued. "I understand the difficult times we are facing. Over the past two years, I have been extremely busy creating and chairing Coventry's first Traffic Calming Committee. As I promised during the last election, Coventry has leaped into the "green" era by that powers 30% of the building's needs at no cost to the tax payer. We just signed an agreement for the . This once useless piece of property will  be able to power all  municipal buildings and school buildings at no cost to the tax payer. We have been able to help the totally disabled tax payer meet their financial obligations, and dispite the efforts of a select few senators to fail this legislation, we were able to push through another first for Coventry, a . All these wonderful accomplishments were done with a zero tax increase."

I believe in the Town of Coventry, in its people, and most importantly, in what we can accomplish by working together. We must continue to preserve and protect our precious resources and unique quality of life. We must continue to support our public schools, while working together to help ease the burden on our taxpayers. We all deserve a government that is open and accountable to the people it serves!”

Jendzejec is the father of Jessie, age 16, and Justin, age 13. He attended grade school at , and later attended the Coventry Middle School. He went on to graduate from Bishop Hendricken High School and the Community College of Rhode Island. Jendzejec currently works as the Director of Programming/Public Information Specialist in the Office of the Secretary of State’s Public Information Division. Public service is no stranger to Ted.
