Town Offers Free Bottled Water to Residents Tuesday; DPW Resumes Trash Pickup
Officials offer advice for homes with no power.

The Town of Coventry Emergency Management Agency (EMA) in cooperation with all Emergency Response Agencies and Human Services Agencies of the Town of Coventry are co-coordinating the recovery phase of Tropical Storm Irene.
The Town of Coventry has experienced extensive power outages, which are expected to continue for a period of days. National Grid estimates the number of customers without power in Coventry at 90%. This translates to over 13,500 households. Please plan accordingly.
Non-potable (not fit for drinking) water is available around the clock at the station located on Victory Highway. Please bring your own container to transport the water home.

Considerations for this period of power loss should include the following:
- Clean source of drinking water for those with wells. Note: Bottled water will be available free of charge, to Coventry residents, on Tuesday August 30 between 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Distribution of the bottled water will take place in the rear of , 40 Reservoir Rd.
- Alternate lighting sources.
- Availability of non-spoilable foods.
- Medical issues that require the use of electric powered health aids. i.e. nebulizers, oxygen systems etc.
- Dialysis patients with concerns should contact their dialysis provider directly. The dialysis provider will then contact the Coventry EMA for assistance. Dialysis patients should not contact the Coventry EMA directly.
- Home oxygen patients who are running low on oxygen should contact the Coventry EOC directly at 825-6911.

- The Coventry is open and fully staffed during normal hours.
- The Coventry will resume garbage pick up on Tuesday, August 30th. They will follow a Monday holiday schedule. So if your regular pickup day was Monday, your trash will be picked up on Tuesday.
Shelter Operations:
The Town of Coventry Emergency Management Agency (EMA) would like to inform the public that the shelter located at the Coventry High School (40 Reservoir Rd.) has been moved to the Coventry (50 Wood St. Coventry). The shelter on Wood Street will be available on an as needed basis.
Please call the shelter hotline (822-6215) to make arrangements. The shelter will NOT be able to accommodate family pets, please make alternative arrangements. As a last resort, the Coventry Animal Shelter will be able to accommodate a small number of pets, which will be subject to a first come, first serve basis due to space limitations. Coventry Animal Control can be reached at 822-9106.
