After Days-Long Plateau, RI Sees Uptick In Coronavirus Cases
The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 281 new cases of coronavirus and 14 deaths.

PROVIDENCE, RI โ After several days of lower coronavirus cases numbers, Rhode Island saw a slight spike in cases Tuesday. The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 281 new cases and 14 deaths.
In total, there have been 9,933 cases of the virus in Rhode Island and 355 deaths. As of Tuesday, 327 people are in the hospital; 89 in intensive care units and 62 on ventilators.
On Monday, Gov. Gina Raimondo outlined specific guidelines to the first phase of reopening, which is expected to start after the current stay-at-home order expires on May 8. In order for that to happen, Raimondo said , the state must continue to have a "relative plateau" of cases and hospitalizations.
