CRANSTON, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Health reported an increase in nonfatal overdoses in Cranston.
The department cited emergency department data showing nine Cranston residents experienced nonfatal overdoses from Aug. 4 through Monday in issuing a "Spike Alert" for the city.
"Increases in overdoses can happen because the drug supply is always changing," the department of health warned. "Fentanyl and other strong substances are in all types of drugs, including heroin, cocaine, and counterfeit pills.
