Boys Soccer: Tigers Trounce on and Trample Thunderbolts

Tolman defeats Cranston East 7-2

It was a one-sided affair from the get-go on Wednesday afternoon at Cranston Stadium. Tolman's boys soccer program displayed their talent and dominated Cranston East, winning the game 7-2.

East is still searching for their first win of the season. In Wednesday's game, Tolman's crisp ball movement and effective finishing was too much to overcome for the Thunderbolts.

Tigers freshman Preston Kamara headed the ball into the back of the net, off of a corner kick giving his team a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest.

About ten minutes later, Tolman struck again. Sebastian Chavez took the corner kick and sophomore Emmanuel Wongen's side volley kick found the back of the net.

The Tigers controlled the action with crisp passing and making good runs. They handled the ball well and did not turn it over. Tolman had the ball for about 85 percent of the time, throughout the whole game.

Five minutes after their second goal, senior Calvin DeOliveira played a through ball to the middle and Wongen blasted home the shot, increasing the lead to 3-0.

The scoring barrage would continue about seven minutes later when they scored on another corner kick. Tolman's execution on set pieces and corner kicks was flawless. Senior Marcus deMedeiros headed the ball into the back of the net. Tigers sophomore Aris Ballesteros' goal wrapped up the first half scoring, as Tolman led 5-0 at halftime.

In the second half, not much changed. The Tigers dominated time of possession and maintained their control on the game.

Cranston East took advantage of Tolman's goalie making a risky play. Adam Ghazal was caught too far out of his net and Brandon Nelson fired the ball into the back of the net, trimming the deficit to 5-1.

Tolman went on to win the game 7-2, picking up a solid road victory in league play. They improve to 6-0 in league play on the season.
