City Needs Volunteers to Brighten Seniors' Holidays

The Cranston Holiday Meals Program needs a little support this year.

Cranston’s senior citizens deserve respect and admiration for contributing to the city’s rich history and traditions.

If it were not for them, we’d not be here to celebrate the holidays with family and friends.

But many of the city’s elderly don’t have a large family to be with to ring in the new year. Thanks to the folks of Cranston Senior Services and many generous volunteers, however, hundreds of seniors still get to enjoy a delicious Christmas meal.

It’s the Cranston Holiday Meals Program and last year, more than 400 seniors enjoyed a meal thanks to the city’s senior services’ staff and more than 150 volunteers who fanned out to deliver baskets.

This year, volunteers are needed to make the tradition a success once again.
