PROVIDENCE, RI — A map of estimated coronavirus cases in Rhode Island shows what percentage of the population has symptoms, broken down by county. According to the map, Providence County has the highest number of symptomatic residents at 1 percent.
That figure matches the latest data from the Rhode Island Department of Health, which reported more than 1,000 cases in the city of Providence alone.
The map was created in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University and based on a survey of more than one million Facebook users. The company said the map can be used to help government and health officials prepare for surges and determine where to deploy medical equipment, including ventilators, face masks and personal protective equipment.
