Cranston Animal Shelter Lands $3,500 Donation from Pet Store

The money came from Pet Supplies Plus customers who donated during the month of April.

An ongoing partnership between the Cranston Animal Shelter and Pet Supplies Plus in Garden City Center has helped improved the lives of countless animals.

Together, they’ve worked to find caring and loving homes for adopted animals and collaborated on adoption events and promotions.

The relationship has paid off in other ways, literally.

The Cranston Animal Shelter has just received $3,546 from Pet Supplies Plus as part of a donation campaign organized by the store through the month of April.

Customers were encouraged to donate all month and the money will be converted into gift cards that the shelter can use to buy food, supplies and other items they need to care for the animals at their shelter.

“The Cranston Animal Shelter is incredibly grateful for the generosity shown by the general public who contributed to the fundraiser. The shelter will now be able to provide supplies and additional equipment that will enhance the lives of the animals and help them to be more adoptable,” said Cranston Animal Control Officer Patricia Maxwell.

The Cranston Animal Shelter, located at 920 Phenix Avenue, opened its doors in November 1984. It houses stray dogs, cats, and homeless pets. The city owned facility is open to the public, and the adoption hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 3:00 p.m.

The Cranston Animal Shelter consists of a kennel area with 40 dog runs and a puppy/cat room with 36 various size cages, accommodating up to 75 puppies, kittens, and cats. The Animal Shelter is equipped with a fleet of vehicles consisting of 3 capped pickup trucks and appropriate, humane capture gear. Anyone interested in adopting an animal is encouraged to contact the shelter directly or stop by during business hours.
