Cranston Man Found Guilty Of Killing Mom's Boyfriend
Vidot's attorney argued the shooting was self defense, saying the victim was beating Vidot's mother. The jury's decision took one day.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Cranston man was convicted Friday of second degree murder for the 2017 shooting and killing of his mother's boyfriend, all three of which shared a home together.
The Superior Court Jury of 12 found Xavier Vidot, 18 guilty of shooting and killing Valdez Loiseau July 17, 2017 at Edgewood Avenue in Cranston.
While searching the Edgewood Avenue home, Cranston detectives found found a pile of bloody clothes, spent casings and almost two dozen live rounds.

Prosecutors said Vidot then tried burning the body. Police found Loiseau's partially burned body on the side of the road in Attleboro, Massachusetts. It took the jury less than a day to reach their noon verdict.
Vidot took the stand in his own defense and told the jury his mother, Melonie Perez, 37 and Loiseau were on drugs and drinking heavily before an argument led to the shooting. His lawyer, John M. Cicillline, had argued Vidot shot Loiseau in defense of his mother and himself, saying Loiseau was beating Perez.
