Cranston Mayor Urges City Council Closely Monitor Allegations Against Judge
"if they are proven to be true then to exercise their legal authority to hold this official accountable for his actions," the mayor said.
Cranston Mayor Allan W. Fung is calling upon the Cranston City Council to closely monitor allegations of domestic violence against Cranston Municipal Court Judge Thomas Ricci.
And, the mayor said, if the allegations are true, the council must βexercise their legal authority to hold this official accountable for his actions.Β Domestic violence is simply unacceptable under any circumstances period. People and especially a public official at any level must be held accountable for engaging in this behavior. β
The Cranston City Charter grants the Council with independent, exclusive authority over the appointment and supervision of municipal judges.

That means Fung has no say in what happens to Ricci, who has served as a Municipal Court Judge in Cranston since 2007.
Council President John E. Lanni Jr. said Tuesday that he expects Ricci to recuse himself as the charges play out.
