Cranston Police Arrest Man Wanted for Threatening on Facebook to Kill Quincy, Mass., Cop

A 31-year-old man who allegedly threatened to kill a Quincy, Mass., police officer has been arrested by Cranston police after he was located at the Harrington Hall homeless shelter on Sunday.

Cranston Police Chief Col. Michael J. Winquist said his department was alerted by Quincy police about the threats made by Jerome McIntyre, of no permanent address.

The threats were “specific threats on Facebook to shoot and kill officers over a property dispute he had been involved in,” the chief said.

Quincy police had a warrant for McIntyre’s arrest for threatening to commit a crime and witness intimdation.

Cranston police soon learned that McINtyre also had two Rhode Island District Court bench warrants for unrelated incidents that included possession of a weapon other than a firearm, Winquist said.

On Sunday, police found McIntyre at Harrington Hall and took him into custody after a brief struggle.

He was also found to be in possession of a knife with a blade longer than three inches.

McIntyre was held overnight at Cranston Police Headquarters before being arraigned on March 2, 2015 at the 3rd District court in Warwick.

In addition to the two District Court bench warrants, Mr. McIntyre was charged by the Cranston Police Department with Resisting Arrest and Possession of a Weapon other Than a Firearm (knife).

McIntyre was ordered held for violating bail imposed for a previous arrest by the East Providence Police Department. The Quincy Police Department will file for extradition once Mr. McIntyre’s Rhode Island criminal matters have been adjudicated, police said
