Cranston Police Celebrate Autism Awareness
Cranston Police will be wearing special Autism Awareness patches during the month of April and raising money for the Autism Project.

CRANSTON, RI — In honor of World Autism Month, the Cranston Police Department will be wearing specially-designed patches on their uniforms. The patches will be available for sale to the public to raise money for the Autism Project in Johnston.
The patches features the autism awareness puzzle, which is meant to show the complexity of the autism spectrum through its variety of shapes and colors.
"Our officers will wear this patch proudly during the month of April to show support and educate our community of the potential of people with autism!!" the department wrote on Facebook.

As a fundraiser for the Autism Project, the patches will also be for sale for $10 each.
According to the Centers For Disease Control, approximately one in 59 children in the United States are on the autism spectrum. The disorder covers range of conditions, including difficulties with communication and social skills.
