CRANSTON, RI — Cranston police have urged residents, especially in the Garden City area, to be on the lookout for car break-ins.

Police said the incidents happened overnight in the Pontiac Avenue corridor from Rolfe Square south to Garden City Drive. Most of the vehicles were unlocked at the time they were broken into, police said.

"Individuals involved in this criminal activity will take the path of least resistance and often move on if they encounter a locked car," police said in a statement. "Also if possible, park in an area that is well lit or covered by motion activated floodlights."
