Cranston's Fleet-Footed Johnson Sets State Track Record

Erica Johnson of Cranston won the 600m race at the Rhode Island State Indoor Track & Field Championship last week — the first female athlete to win the event three years in a row.

Erica Johnson made indoor track history last week by winning the 600m race at the Rhode Island State Indoor Track & Field Championship. It was the third time she won the event and is the first female athelete to accomplish such a feat in the 20-year history of the sport.

The 4 x 800m team comprised of Tatianna Medina (East Providence), Kayla Saucier (Coventry), Emma D'Arpino (Johnston) and Erica Johnson (Cranston) finished 4th in the State and set a Bay View Academy record time of 10:06.
