East '76 Grads to Reunite July 29

Did you graduate Cranston High School East in 1976? Your classmates want to hear from you as soon as possible. Your 35th reunion is coming up soon.

The Cranston High School East class of 1976 is close to its July 29 and organizers are hoping that more of the 570-plus graduates say they'll show up.

Ron Jacob is helping to organize the reunion, which will take place July 29 at the Narragansett Community Center at 53 Mumford Road from 5 to 11 p.m.

"We're getting the word out there," Jacob said. "We're doing pretty good, but we could do better."

The class includes some prominent and successful people, including well-known musician Mark Cutler, former Red Sox and Expo player Mike Stenhouse and Howard Fine, who runs an acting studio in California that has worked with actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn.

Jacob was a Cranston police officer for 20 years. After he retired, he moved to South Carolina. He's back in town until the end of the month and he said the city still seems well-kept and the services are still good. He's thinking of moving back home to Rhode Island as long as the job market continues to improve, he said.

Jacob has posted information about the reunion on Memory Lane (formerly Classmates.com) and Facebook. Tracking down everyone has been hard, though.

"It's hard to keep up with the classmates and I don't know how to say it, but we're getting older," he said. "We're looking for lots of people because we've lost touch with a lot of them. There are addresses that are no good. Some are 23-years-old or more."

To RSVP for the event or to learn more, look on Memory Lane, Facebook, or call Jacob directly at 843-300-2085.
