This class will explore the rich history of “exploitation” cinema and its impact on mainstream filmmaking. In addition to some theory and exploration of themes and historical trends in this cinematic sub-genre, we’ll look at specific techniques and shots used in horror films to build suspense, establish tone, or just make people jump out of their seats. Learn techniques you can use in your own horror films, or just improve your cinematic vocabulary. Guest speakers will include screenwriters and directors including Guy Benoit and Tony Nunes.
