Girls Lacrosse: Falcons and Thunderbolts Celebrate Senior Night

Cranston City Cup Match, East vs. West

The Falcons and Thunderbolts met for the annual City Cup on Sunday afternoon in a girls lacrosse match. At halftime the seniors were honored, as it was Senior Night as well.

Falcons coach, Michael Soscia, has been pleased with the contributions from the seniors during their time in the program. "They have played varsity for three years and have worked hard throughout," he said.

Jen Ricci was switched to play defense in the latter part of the season due to injuries. The last six games of the season her main responsibility was shutting down the opponent's top player. "She held that player to one goal or less in every game," the coach said, "Her work ethic was the best that I’ve seen in all of my years of coaching."

Her sister, Jess Ricci, led the Falcons offense this year. According to Soscia, she is a very complete and good all-around player.

"My final senior, Amanda Mizzoni, was our team morale person and an excellent role model for these younger girls," the coach added.

Thunderbolts coach Howard Chun, spoke about what his seniors meant to the program. "All of my seniors had big hearts and displayed great work ethic," he said.

The two main leaders of the team were co-captains Talia Temporal and Harmony Tillson. Tillson was the leader on offense and Temporal led the offense, according to Chun.

"They set the tone and are passionate," he said, "They have great fire and intensity."

Gabby Corvese has gotten better each season and has worked very hard to hone her skills, the coach added.
