Narragansett was constantly applying pressure on the Bolts defense and creating scoring opportunities in the first half. They dominated time of possession, as they had the ball for at least 70 percent of the time.

"Chelsea’s a freshman this year and she has done an outstanding job," Mariners coach Kathryn Mahoney said, "She has great speed and when she learns to finish more consistently she will be even better."
Momentum changed ten minutes later when East was awarded a penalty kick. Senior Kelsy Evje buried the shot and the Thunderbolts had new life.
Evje came inches away from tying the game, about two minutes later. The Thunderbolts executed a free kick brilliantly and Evje's header hit the post.
Cranston East took advantage of the momentum swing and began to apply heavy pressure on the Mariners defense. They had a few chances to tie the game, but fell short, as they lost the game 2-1.
Thunderbolts coach, Lauren Tomasso was pleased with the second half play. "The first half was a little rough but we had a much better second half," she said.
"They have a very good program and have a couple of girls offensively who can put the ball in the back into the net," the coach added.
