Girls Softball: Clippers Offense Catches Fire Against Falcons

Cranston West girls softball team falls to Cumberland 14-1.

Some games call for the game film to be destroyed and a team to forget about the loss. It was one of those days for Cranston West when the Cumberland Clippers (4-3) girls softball team traveled to the Brayton Avenue Complex to take on the Falcons on Wednesday afternoon. Cumberland's offense was relentless as they pounded out 14 runs on 12 hits  in the 14-1 victory.

Clippers senior Kayleigh Martins got the game's first big hit with a double to left center, notching two RBI's. A third run scored on a throw over the catcher's head, giving Cumberland a 3-0 edge in the top of the second.

Another error by Cranston West gave Cumberland two more runs in the top of the third. Two runs scored on a wild throw to first base, which would have been the final out of the inning.
