Girls Tennis: Northmen Nip Thunderbolts

North Smithfield defeats Cranston East 4-3

On Friday Oct. 7, the Northmen from North Smithfield traveled to P to take on Cranston East in a girls tennis match. North Smithfield entered the contest with a 7-2 record and the Thunderbolts were 7-4. It was a tight match throughout, but ultimately North Smithfield won it 4-3.

North Smithfield won all four singles matches as, Meg Mandeville, Brittany Walsh, and Tiana Ahmed each won in straight sets. Melissa Denham won her singles match in three sets.

Cranston East rebounded, winning all three doubles matches. However, North Smithfield won the match and has won two straight since defeating the Thunderbolts to improve to 10-2. Cranston East won their next match, defeating Shea High School 6-1, improving to 8-5 on the year.
