Injury Fund Boys Soccer: Thunderbolts Defeat Panthers
Cranston East defeats Johnston 2-0 in pre-season contest.
On Tuesday afternoon, the boys soccer teams from Cranston East, Cranston West, and Johnston participated in the annual pre-season Injury Fund tournament. LaSalle Academy, Prout High School, and Lincoln High School were scheduled to compete in the tournament. However, due to the hurricane, the teams did not make the trip.
The games are not counted towards the regular season, but serve as tune-ups for the season, similar to the NFL pre-season games. Cranston East defeated Johnston 2-0 in the first game on Tuesday.
The Thunderbolts maintained possession for a majority of the game. Johnston only registered one shot on goal the entire match, which lasted twenty minutes.

About four minutes in, the Thunderbolts Edwin Agyemang scored on a breakaway. About halfway through the contest they put home a rebound opportunity, upping the lead to 2-0. East hit the post with a minute left, barely missing a third goal.
Victor Raposa, East's head coach, was pleased with what he saw. "I am very pleased with the possession we had in the game," he said, "We had very good formation, which is a promising sign."
