NBC's "Last Comic Standing" Semi-Finalist Kurt Metzger Headlines Comix at Foxwoods Beginning December 4

Comix at Foxwoods will host NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” semi-finalist and comedic sensation, Kurt Metzger for a three-night, four-performance stand-up event at beginning Thursday, Dec. 4 at 8:00 p.m.

Metzger’s on-stage performances have made him notorious for toeing the line of edgy without ever actually crossing it. The comedian, who has a knack for stirring the pot with his wild repository of controversial scenarios, has been described as “erudite without being snobbish, while effecting an easygoing delivery style.

Metzger, Philadelphia native, began his career in the local stand-up scene with friends and fellow comedians Kevin Hart and “Big” Jay Oakerson. He eventually moved up in the comedy ranks and moved out to New York, where he continues to perform regularly at NYC’s top comedy clubs.

Besides performing in premiere clubs of the Big Apple, Metzger’s credits include performances on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham,” Showtime’s “White Boyz in the Hood” and as a regular on VH1’s “Best Week Ever.” In 2011, Kurt released his one-hour CD “Kurt Metzger Talks to Young People About Sex” and was added to Comedy Central’s “Hot List.”

Metzger also had his own half-hour special for “Comedy Central Presents,” appeared on Comedy Central’s “Important Things with Demetri Martin,” and IFC’s “Z-Rock”. Metzger’s most recent Comedy Central Hour Special entitled, “White Precious” was released in early 2014 and received rave reviews.

He was the standout comedian at the JFL Montreal Comedy Festival’s New Faces showcase and was a Semi-Finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” Away from the stage Metzger voiced the character, Randall on Comedy Central’s “Ugly Americans.”

Metzger has written for “Chappelle’s Show” and “Inside Amy Schumer” on Comedy Central, as well as several other SpikeTV and VH1 programs. Kurt was also a writer for “The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen.”
