Pawtucket Father Charged After Infant Ingests Unknown Drug
Michael Wittlin faces charges of neglect or cruelty to a child.

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- A Pawtucket father is facing child neglect charges after his 15-month-old daughter ingested and unknown drug.
According to Pawtucket Police, the incident occurred on February 15. Michael Wittlin, 30, called 911 after finding a white, rock-like substance in the infant's mouth. Wittlin reported that his mouth went numb after he tasted the substance, and he flushed it down the toilet before officers arrived.
The child was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital to be evaluated. Her mother told police she was at work at the time and only learned of the incident when Wittlin called her.

Wittlin was arrested on Thursday and arraigned in Providence District Court on charges of cruelty or neglect to a child.
