Police Identify Man, Woman Killed In Cranston Motorcycle Crash

Cranston police said neither of the two Providence residents who died in the crash between an SUV and their motorcycle were wearing helmets.

CRANSTON, RI — Police have identified the two people who died Wednesday night in a crash involving a motorcycle and a Nissan SUV in Cranston.

Cranston police identified the crash victims as Jovannie, Delgiudice, 21, and Yasmary Valdera, 20, both of Providence. Police said Delgiudice was driving the motorcycle, while Valdera was his passenger.

The crash happened around 8:13 p.m. at the corner of Broad Street and Wheeler Avenue, when the two vehicles collided while the SUV driving was taking a left-hand turn onto Wheeler Avenue.

Witnesses said Delguidice illegally passed them on the left on his motorcycle and drove directly at oncoming traffic. Police said the motorcycle had no headlights or emergency equipment.

Both Delgiudice and Valdera were thrown off the motorcycle and were rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where they were pronounced dead.

Police said Delgiudice was speeding when the crash happened. Neither victim was wearing a helmet, and neither of them had a motorcycle license, according to police.

The Nissan driver was not injured and is not facing charges, police said.
