Supporters say it will raise much needed revenue for the cash-strapped school district. It has been said that Cranston could generate $300,000 to fund school programs. And concerns about marketing saturation in the lives of children are unfounded with much more exposure happening daily on smartphones, the Internet and television.
Opponents say schools should be a haven free of commercial messaging and corporate influence. The same principles have led some school districts, including Cranston, to ban soft drinks and fatty foods from cafeterias.

And it should be noted that the practice of schools exchanging prominent space on scoreboards and fences with businesses for financial support of athletic programs is widespread.
