CRANSTON, RI — It's Valentine's Day, and that means lovers and singles across the country are lining up to buy those classic heart-shaped boxes of chocolate. Before you make your selection, however, the Roger Williams Park Zoo asked Rhode Islanders to make sure their sweets are safe for rainforests.

The zoo listed popular chocolate companies that have committed to using only sustainably sourced palm oil in their chocolate production. These companies are all members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.

"Be sweet to wildlife and wild places this Valentine’s Day by choosing candy and products that are made with certified, sustainable palm oil," the zoo wrote on Facebook. "Check out this guide for some quick gift ideas or download the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Shopping Guide app for even more products!"
