Schools Delayed by Two Hours on Thursday

Ice and slippery conditions has compelled the district to delay school by two hours tomorrow.

School will be delayed by two hours on Thursday because of ice and slippery conditions.

The notice was posted on the Rhode Island Broadcasters website around 8:15 p.m. tonight.

The late start follows a snow day on Wednesday and an early dismissal on Tuesday because of back-to-back snowstorms this week.

In addition to the two-hour delay, there will be no morning kindegarten.

According to the National Weather Service, tonight's overnight low will fall to about 18 degrees. The city was plagued with a mix of precipitation from the second snowstorm to hit this week. What started as snow turned to sleet and eventually, rain. Temperatures rapidly fell around 4 p.m. this afternoon, glazing surfaces.ย

Crews will be out all night sanding roads and walkways along school routes.ย
