Strong Thunderstorms, Flooding Possible In RI Before Sunny Week

The whole state could see scattered thunderstorms, but conditions may be even worse in central Kent and Providence counties.

RHODE ISLAND — Rhode Island got some much-needed rain Monday amid drought conditions, and it looks like more is on the way Tuesday, along with some thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The whole state could see scattered thunderstorms, but according to AccuWeather, conditions may be even worse in central Kent and Providence Counties.

Along with strong thunderstorms around 1:30 p.m., wind gusts could exceed 40 mph. Pea-sized hail and flooding in urban communities and areas with poor drainage could also be an issue.

But after Tuesday night, the forecast is looking rather clear and sunny. See the rest of the week's weather forecast, according to the National Weather Service:

Tuesday — A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Otherwise, partly sunny with a high around 80. At night, expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., a partly cloudy sky and a low of 66.

Wednesday — Sunny with a high near 85, then clear skies at night with a low of 66.

Thursday — Sunny with a high around 85, then mostly clear skies at night with a low of 68.

Friday — Mostly sunny with a high of 84. At night, expect a low of around 65.

Saturday — Mostly sunny with a high of about 82. At night, expect partly cloudy skies and a low of 64.
