Traffic Advisory: Route 10, 6 Intersection Reconstruction Begins
Construction begins at 8 p.m. each night. At least one lane will be kept open at all times in both directions. RIDOT said to expect delays.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced Wednesday it's installing two lane shifts at the interchange between Routes 6 and 10 this weekend for a $410 million construction project to begin.
The construction will affect traffic on Route 10 North and Route 6 West in Providence.
RIDOT said they will have the same number of travel lanes in both directions, and all on-ramps and exits will remain open. Shoulders and lane widths will be narrowed.

According to RIDOT, the shifts are needed to start work on the Route 10 corridor and along the middle of Route 6.

Route 10 North: On Friday, September 14 into Saturday, September 15, all travel lanes will be shifted to the right between Westminster Street and Broadway.
Route 6 West: On Saturday, September 15 into Sunday, September 16, all travel lanes will be shifted to the right on the ramp from Route 10 South onto Route 6 West.
