West Musicians Picked to Play in Exclusive Orchestra
Congrats to John Castore and Kathryn Nottage, students at Cranston High School West who have been picked to participate in the 2013 National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Honors Orchestra.

Two Cranston High School West Orchestra students have been chosen for an exclusive opportunity.
John Castore, a violinist and Kathryn Nottage, a bassist, were picked to play in the 2013 National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Honors Orchestra.
The NAfME organizes the All-Eastern Honors Ensembles, which consist of a symphony orchestra, a concert band, mixed chorus and jazz ensemble.

The pair will prepare "challenging music that they will perform under the leadership of prominent conductors in this biennial event," according to a release.
They'll rehearse for three days between April 4 and 6 next year. This year, the Eastern Division Conference will be held in Hartford, Conn. Their performance will be at the Bushnell Auditorium on Sunday, April 7.

Each of the state music educators associations in the NAfME Eastern Division (CT, DC, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, PA, VT, Europe) oversee the selection process in their state during the Spring and early Fall of the year prior to the event and compile ranked lists of recommended juniors and seniors for consideration.
The National Association of Secondary School Principals has placed this program on The NASSP National Advisory list of Contests and Activities.
