EG To Host Arts Festival Labor Day Weekend

The festival, Saturday, Sept. 3, will be held on the grounds at New England Tech.

After a several-year drought, an arts festival is coming to East Greenwich again in a big way, with more than 100 artists and strolling performers, on the grounds of New England Tech on Division Street. The festival will take place on Sept. 3, the day after EG’s Summer’s End concert.

The festival will feature items big and small, including jewelry, ceramics, paintings, sculpture and home accessories along with a seasonal farmers market. Β

In addition to the art and crafts for sale, festival visitors will have an opportunity to join together to create a community art project, spend time with the family in the free children’s craft center or play parachute games with Trevor the Games Man.

β€œWe believe that an art festival should be a family day filled with art, music, creativity and fun!” said Jennifer Neuguth, owner of Festival Fete, the company that will be putting on the festival.

Some of the fun will come from strolling performers - the entertaining Big Nazo puppets and extraordinary living art sculptures from Ten31 Productions.

β€œThis is a thrilling event for East Greenwich. A little known fact about our town is that we have a rich artistic community. This festival is a wonderful opportunity to shine the spotlight on them,” said Lisa Sussman, who is the executive director for COA, the Cultural Organization for the Arts.
