The First Baptist Girls' Choir from Nova Scotia, Canada to perform at the East Greenwich United Methodist Church

The First Baptist Girls’ Choir, a non-denominational choir of young woman from Nova Scotia Canada will be singing a short tour of the eastern United States from Maine down to New York City from June 30 until July 8th offering a concert at the East Greenwich United Methodist Church, 1558 South County Trail, East Greenwich on Saturday July 2nd at 7:00pm.The choir is comprised of 24 young women age 12-18 from Truro, Nova Scotia and its surrounding areas. Throughout its 26 year history in addition to concerts, touring and recording, it contributes regularly to the worship services of the First Baptist Church in Truro. Since its founding, the choir has receives invitations to perform from many parts of the world. In 1986 the choir attended the Montreal Choral Symposium as guests of the Tudor Singers of Montreal: the Choir of the Church of Saint Andrew and Saint Paul. In 1987 the choir toured England and was the first Nova Scotian Choir to be invited to participate in the prestigious International Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales. Since 1987 the choir has toured extensively and has given concerts throughout Canada, the United States, The Netherlands, Iceland, Finland, Germany and The Czech Republic The repertoire is eclectic, bridging sacred and secular, traditional and contemporary. Also on the program will be arrangements of Canadian folk songs and a healthy mixture of Spirituals and gospel songs.
