Gee Wins Dist. 35 Senate Race
The East Greenwich Town Councilor defeated challenger James Callaghan by a margin of 54 to 45 percent.

Republicans gained some ground at the Rhode Island State House this election and Mark Watkins Gee, an East Greenwich Republican Town Councilor, is one of the new faces to join the ranks of the General Assembly.
Gee defeated Democrat James Callaghan, the Town Council President in Narragansett, by a margin of 54 to 45 percent, garnering 5,642 votes to Callaghan’s 4,729.
Gee did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Callaghan congratulated Gee on what he said was a “great race and a tremendous campaign” on his Web site, www.callaghanforsenate.com.
“And thank you to all my family and friends who were so supportive during the race. I really appreciate all the help in so many different ways. Hope to see everyone again soon.”
