Kroian Scholarship Fund Breakfast March 10
Michael Kroian owned and operated the EG Golf Club from 1962 to 2008.

On Saturday, March 10, a fundraising breakfast buffet for the Michael S. Kroian Memorial Scholarship Fund will take place at Dave’s Bar and Grill on Post Road in Warwick.
Kroian, who passed away in 2009 from complications following brain cancer, was a long-time business owner in East Greenwich. He and his wife opened the East Greenwich Country Club in 1962 and ran the business together until they sold it in late 2008, less than a year before Kroian was diagnosed with cancer.
In addition to owning his business in East Greenwich, Kroian also worked for several decades as a choral teacher at Warwick Vets Memorial High School and Gorton Jr. High. He left behind a legacy with his former students, who to this day stay in touch and hold reunions.

Because of his love for music, his memorial scholarship fund was set up by family members and former students to directly support students pursuing a degree in music at the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College.
Since he loved his business and golf, as well, an annual golf tournament is held at Trigg’s Memorial Golf Course in Providence during the summer to further support the scholarship funds. This year’s tournament will be held in August, and all golfers are invited to join.
The money raised at the buffet breakfast next Saturday will help endow the URI scholarship. The RIC scholarship has been fully endowed, and the committee is working hard to ensure the same for eligible URI music students.
