Miss EG Competes at National Sweetheart Pageant
"I am so excited to visit America's heartland and represent East Greenwich and Rhode Island on a historic national stage," Curtis said.

The reigning Miss East Greenwich, Alexandra Curtis, who placed as first runner up at the Miss Rhode Island pageant last June, qualified to compete at the annual National Sweetheart Pageant August 29, 30 and 31 in Hoopeston, Illinois.
The National Sweetheart Pageant is comprised of all contestants who finished as 1st Runner-up in their respective state pageants in the Miss America system.
As Rhode Island’s Sweetheart 2014, Alexandra will compete in interview/platform, talent, evening gown and swimsuit. The pageant is part of a 70- year tradition of celebrating the farm towns’ sweet corn festival.

Curtis will be interviewed on her platform, “Leading Ladies: Equipping women for Leadership Roles,” and she will sing her comedic, rendition of “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid. Alexandra is a 2014 honors graduate of Syracuse University and is the daughter of Kathi and Mark Curtis.

Funding for her trip to compete in Hoopeston, Illinois was generously provided by the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce.
