Odeum Revitalization Is Fundraiser's Goal

I think we can all agree that it would be great to have a dedicated theater operating in town again. With the fundraising efforts to re-open the town’s landmark Greenwich Odeum in full swing, here’s your chance to be part of the solution and have a great time at a Big Easy-style shindig in the process.

Bringing a little bit of the New Orleans atmosphere to Rhode Island this weekend, the event features terrific food and drink, dancing to the Slippery Sneakers Cajun/Zydeco band, and a silent auction.

Where/When: Quidnessett Country Club, 950 North Quidnessett Road, North Kingstown, on Friday, 6:30pm.

Why Go: You get to have a great time and help bring the Odeum back to life on Main Street. It's a win-win situation.

Pricing:  $75 per person.

Where/When: ; Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m., with an opening reception from 1 to 3 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Over 70 adult and youth artists from the and School of Art will showcase their original fine art in all mediums, including oil, watercolor, pastel and charcoal.

Where/When: Kayak Centre, 9 Phillips Street, North Kingstown, RI; Fridays through August 19, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Getting to take in the spectacular sunset views is just one of the reasons this activity was voted “Best Date Night” by “RI Monthly” magazine.

Pricing: $40.

Where/When: The Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Rd, Warwick, RI; Daily through July 29, 12 to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Remember the Warwick Musical Theatre in this exhibit that also features memorabilia from the personal collection of Larry Bonoff.

Pricing: Free; Donations to benefit the Warwick Museum of Art are gratefully accepted.

Where/When: ; Sunday 12 to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a one-mile hike in the park followed by lunch to benefit the no-kill animal shelter. 

Pricing: $20 per person.
