Renovated Allie’s Tack & Feed Reopens
The family-run store still offers an array of products for pets large and small, and a Western section.
Pets will give the new Allie’s Tack and Feed two paws up for their recent renovations. Allie’s, located at 3700 Quaker Lane in North Kingstown, is the local go-to spot for pet and livestock feed, toys, chew toys, treats, collars, leashes, bowls and more, has a new look and more convenient layout.
Customers, the two-legged human variety, can see the redesigned shopping area during the Grand Reopening event on June 2 and 3. Advice, specials, samples and raffle basket drawings will be offered both days.
“We've always carried pet supplies for are farm and horse customers but it grew into a full pet supply department,” explained Steve Briggs Jr. “We moved the pet supplies to a more central area to make it easier for all of our customers to find what they need.”

The Western store is now located completely upstairs, including saddles, with a separate register for checkouts.
The main floor is dedicated to pets and livestock and their needs, from food to beds. The staff at Allie’s has expanded the area for pets, horses and small animals; it is now easier for their customers to find special treats or supplies.

“We have supplies for just about every pet, except reptiles,” he added. Allie’s selection includes toys for hamsters or gerbils, chew toys for dogs, house birds, cat treats, leashes, vitamins, supplements, dishes, gnawing toys for small animals such as rabbits and specialized cages and homes.
Allie’s recently garnered a first place award in Animal Print Magazine’s Top Dog Reader’s Choice for Best Locally Owned Pet Supply Store. Out-of-state customers can shop online at www.alliesstore.com. A Facebook page and regular Tweets allow customers to stay in contact online as well.
While the internet contact is nice, personal service is still paramount at Allie’s. Started in 1978 by the late Frederick Alvin “Allie” Briggs, the store and the family are North Kingstown fixtures. People can find their own treats just across the street at Allie’s Donuts, also founded by “Allie” Briggs.
Briggs’ son, Steve, and his wife, Jamie have owned the store since 1984.
Steve’s children, Jessica and Molly as well as Steve Jr. work at the store full time, providing a lifetime of valuable experience to the operation of Allie’s.
Allie’s has supplies and food for nearly every animal a family can own. “We do have fish food, for Koi and larger outdoor fish,” Steve Briggs Jr. said.
The aisles are organized to help a pet owner find what they need, be it a leash, brushes, snacks or food. Bags of pet food will be next to the door, making it easy for customers to take a small bag of pet food to their cars, said Bonnie Briggs. Larger bags will still be carried to the car by Allie’s staff members.
The pet-friendly store will be even easier for pet owners to shop. “It’s all going to be on one level, so it will be wonderful for the customers,” Bonnie said.
