RI Land Trust Days Takes to Briggs-Boesch Farm

Enjoy a tour of the farm, meet the chickens, ducks, pigs and cows, check out rails and enjoy a delicious lunch courtesy of Pat's Pastured.

On Sept. 21, the East Greenwich Municipal Land Trust and Pat’s Pastured will hold the first-annual Harvest Stroll at the Briggs-Boesch Farm at 830 South Road.

The event will highlight one of the special places in East Greenwich that is protected and open to the public.

This activity is part of RI Land Trust Days, when land trusts across the state are inviting individuals and families to discover new places and meet neighbors as they enjoy breathtaking views, hiking, kayaking, wildlife, historical landmarks, art, and local agriculture.

They day begins at around 10:30 a.m. with a tour of the farm, which is home to cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, trails, pasture and forest. Lunch will be served courtesy of Pat’s Pastured at around noon.

Bring proper footwear -- you will be walking on trails, farm roads and fields. Strollers are OK but you might have a few struggle spots in the woods, but “it is manageable,” according to a release.

Land Trust Days, sponsored by the East Greenwich Land Trust and other members of the RI Land Trust Council, is designed to let Rhode Islanders know about the very special places that land trusts are protecting in communites all across our state. Land Trust Days runs through September 28. Everyone can participate in these opportunities for adventure and fun from the city to the farm and the forest to the sea. More than 50 guided walks, family festivals, farm tours, scavenger hunts, kayak trips, campfire storytelling, barbeques, and geocaching are featured.
