RITBA TO START CONSTRUCTION OF NEW PERMANENT MEDIAN BARRIER ON NEWPORT PELL BRIDGE - MONDAY, MARCH 16TH

Advises Drivers to Use Caution

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (“RITBA”) will begin the construction of the new median barrier on the Newport Pell Bridge on Monday, March 16th, 2015. The new permanent concrete median barrier will run the length of the bridge and enhance the bridge’s safety by minimizing crossover accidents.

RITBA advises all motorists to drive with extreme caution as they cross the Newport Pell Bridge during construction due to the likelihood of delays, lane closures, and slower traffic.

Construction is expected to last until Mid-May 2015. The median barrier installation progress can be followed on RITBA’s Facebook page and Twitter feed, and by visitingRITBA.org.
