Scribe And Sprigs To Join Forces On Main Street

Sprigs Flowers and Scribe Calligraphy will share space at 442 Main St.

Scribe Calligraphy owner Jane Parillo and Sprigs Flowers owner Janice O’Connell think their businesses are very compatible and have decided to share space at 442 Main Street, next to Fillippou’s Twisted Pizza and across the street from Caprice.

Parillo has been in business in East Greenwich for 22 years and located at 26 Main Street for the last 16.  O’Connell opened Sprigs at 232 Main five years ago.

The two first met at a Merchants meeting and became good friends as they worked on Main Street promotions.

In their business and social activities, they often talked about how their businesses had components that would work well together.

As a calligrapher Parillo creates a wide variety of individual products.  Her work includes such things as invitations, citations and resolutions, fine art, greeting cards, personalized gift items and more.

O’Connell says Sprigs will have double the space in the new store and she needs it because the store has outgrown the current location.  Plant and flower sales are growing and she does deliveries all over the state.  With the extra space she also plan to expand her inventory of gift items.

With the two businesses under one roof the pair see an opportunity for unique customized and personalized presentations.   An example, they say, would be one of Parillo’s personalized cards to compliment a flower arrangement or gift.

In addition to more space, O’Connell says she is looking forward to a better parking situation.  The success of neighboring businesses in her current location, especially restaurants, has brought more traffic, but put pressure on available parki ng.

The pair is working on adapting the new location with plans to move in by the end of the month.  They’ll take a while to get settled, then hold a grand opening sometime in April or early May.
