Spooky Times On Main Street

The 18th annual Halloween Parade and other festivities just beat Saturday's rain and snow.

Every year, the East Greenwich Parks and Recreation Dept. Halloween just seems to get bigger, with a costume parade down Main Street, an egg hunt at Academy Field, hayrides, temporary tattoos, arts, crafts and trick-or-treating at businesses up and down Main Street.

Over 40 local shops on Main Street supplied the treats for the eager trick-or-treaters. In addition to candy, the children could also help themselves to donuts. This was a "Helping Halloween" event, families were encouraged to bring canned goods to be donated to the local food cupboard.

The event was scheduled for 10 to 12:30 p.m. but was cut short when rain began to fall at about noon. That may not have been a bad thing, since by then many shops were running dangerously low on candy.
