A word from our Artist:

I grew up on a farm in northern Rhode Island and was introduced to the quiet life at an early age. My life as a mechanical design engineer, family man and business owner was anything but quiet. Now, in retirement, I am enjoying a return to the quiet life through my photography. I am drawn to three categories of images: sunsets on the water, historical scenes and antique cars.

SUNSETS – Sunsets present quite a challenge to photograph, as they change by the minute. The reflection of light in the water and the contrast of the darkness of the landscape below create a natural, spectacular beauty. I am fortunate to live in Narragansett, surrounded by breathtaking scenic views all year long. HISTORY – American history has been a lifelong love of mine, especially the Civil War era. My experience as part of a RI Civil War Light Artillery re-enactment organization has produced several quiet moments of history, captured in my camera. ANTIQUE CARS – My retirement hobby is antique cars, of which I own three. Old things bring back memories and working on them uses my mechanical abilities. My pictures capture a time when cars had style.

Andre Louis lives in Narragansett, RI with his wife, Kathleen. He considers himself “an amateur photographer with a great camera”. He hopes you enjoy his collection, and figures anyone who takes a few thousand pictures can come up with 50 good ones!
