Vet Coming To Main Street
Keith Schoen has taken over the space next to Back to Basics at 500 Main St. and plans to open in December.

Keith Schoen, a veterinary doctor and surgeon, is planning to open Hill and Harbour Veterinary Center at 500 Main Street, next to and . He plans to open in December, following completion of renovations to the space.
Schoen introduced himself to the East Greenwich community at an event that couldn't have been better tailored to his particular market niche – , which just coincidentally happened to "muster" in the parking lot at 500 Main Street.
Schoen was ready, with a table set up in the parking lot and doggie treats with business cards attached.

"I could not have asked for anything better," he said in terms of the marketing opportunity.
Schoen, from Staten Island, New York, trained at Cornell University and the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He interned at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey, followed by a specialized surgical internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists on South County Trail in East Greenwich.

He worked at NorthPaws Vet Center in Smithfield before deciding to go out on his own.
"The concept is that we're more than just great medicine," said Schoen about Hill & Harbour. "I really want it to be about the customer and the dog. Sometimes the dog gets some attention and the person gets no attention. Instead, I want them to come here and say, 'Wow. That was a really great experience.'"
