• Johnston Man Defaced Patriotic East Providence Crosswalk With Tire Tracks: Cops (patch.com) — East Providence police say a Johnston man has admitted to damaging a newly painted American flag-themed crosswalk on Turner Avenue along the Memorial Day parade route, and he’s now on probation with restitution ordered. The department notes this is the third arrest in recent years tied to vandalism of ceremonial painted crosswalks in the city, and warns future offenders will be pursued.
• RI to implement Ebola symptom monitoring system (wpri.com) — Rhode Island health officials, in an announcement datelined from East Providence, are rolling out a monitoring system for travelers returning from Ebola-affected countries, though they stress the risk here is very low. Recent arrivals from Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan will be asked to self-monitor for 21 days and check in regularly with the Department of Health as part of a CDC partnership.
• Friday's playoffs were the calm before the storm. Here's what happened. (providencejournal.com) — High school playoff action has La Salle’s baseball team setting up a Sunday rematch with East Providence after battling past Smithfield to stay alive in Division I Pod 2.
