• Rhode Island school-zone speed cameras are turning back on: here's where they're located (wpri.com) — East Providence drivers should be ready: ten school-zone speed cameras in the city will be reactivated around Sept. 1–2, operating from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days. A statewide rundown shows which Rhode Island communities use these cameras, when they're active, and where new installations or expansions are planned.
   

• Man convicted of deadly East Providence stabbing granted parole (wpri.com) — A man convicted in the 2016 killing of a 24-year-old outside his East Providence home has been granted parole and is scheduled for release in January 2029. The victim's mother, who says she has forgiven him, remains upset that he has not apologized directly and questions his accountability while hoping he has reflected during his time in prison.
   

• What can you expect from the 2026 RIIL girls tennis season? Net gains. (providencejournal.com) — East Providence's girls tennis team is moving up to Division I after a strong 2025 season, joining other contenders chasing perennial powerhouse La Salle. The statewide preview highlights shifting divisions, key returning players, and which programs could surprise when the 2026 playoffs arrive.
